Dude honestly your best bet is to cut your losses. Drop out of LSU and take a break from school for a semester or two. Obviously, get a job for the time being. This will help you in making a decision that will affect the rest of your life. Don't rush into it because you see where that got you.

You should follow your dreams, but try to get a paying job too.

History sounds like law school, or teaching.

Sociology sounds like a probation officer, get a masters in Social work or a PhD in something.

The ecology guys who suggested stuff before we're onto something with permitting and all, so don't forget that too.

Yep. Next thing we know you'll be the dude who starts his own chain of seafood fast food restaurants and is a billionaire.

The next logical step for you is law school. Sign up to take the LSAT.

I know that law isn't a stable field right now

He sounds like he has a pretty good salvagble plan/degree path. Just needs to pull it together and hone it towards a specific field or job, and then go for it. I think the OP can do it.

I was just joking around at first, but after reading his posts, I am pulling for him and think he can pull it off! Maybe re-visit a career counselor and or a professor. I'd stick it out - you can do it for sure.

Why and how? This is my major and it was a breeze in school.

There's a lot of misinformation out there right now. Law firms are handing out jobs like candy on Halloween.

This is great advice, but you also need a job. My dreams are traveling, watching live sports, enjoying the outdoors, and studying history. I'm able to accomplish these dreams by working a a good job.

If you get into O&G consulting and make the right connections, that $100k is definitely possible. And learning all of the rules and regs is quite a bit, but it's just a matter of learning them really

People told me to follow my dreams .....

Read Mike Rowe's response to the young man who asked why he shouldn’t follow his passion.
You'll have to google it, as I don't know how to link on here. But it's worth the read.
