That's a bit disingenuous. LSU hadn't run many of those interior pitch plays. I counted two in the first half.

Occam's Razor applies here... the outside pitch worked better than the interior pitch because it's a better play.

It doesn't take many. 2 or 3 gaining 10-15 yards will force the defense to adjust to the inside, allowing the RBs to get outside later from the same formation.

You don't just come out running to the outside against a defense as fast as Mississippi's.

Dives tend to gain less YPC than off tackle runs.

More defenders and less open space...
