Lived in Orlando for a couple years. Not a bad city, but the crowd sucked.

I was happy to get out of there.

Mud central Florida sucks move to either coastlines.
If you have younger kids, central Florida is infinitely better than the coast. Hell, it's probably better either way.

You can work in Orlando and still have land. I live near down town, however I know a lot of people who commute in from areas like: Oviedo, Deltona, Debarry, Sanford, Lake Mary, Clermont,
I work downtown in Orlando and live in Clermont. With a family, I have zero complaints. Not sure why so many are shitting all over central Florida.

It is nice, just a lot of old rich people driving golf carts around.

Keys are close, so that's a plus

I recommend Lake County. It's just North of Orange county and much better IMHO. You can still get land and there is lots of lake property available.
yep, this is exactly what I've done.

Clermont is up and coming. Though I lived in downtown Orlando for almost 10 years and had no issues whatsoever.

I have a job offer in Tampa, thinking about it. Anyone here live there?
If you're 35 or younger, you'd love an area called South Tampa, near Bayshore Drive. The entire Tampa Bay area is great, on south thru St. Pete, Palmetto, Bradenton, Sarasota. Just hug the coast and move south - it just gets better.

Lots and lots of retirement age people, along the Gulf side, it's mostly Midwestern culture (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin). But further south and east you go, toward the Atlantic side you'll notice more and more people from up East - NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA. Few native Floridians to be found.

But that being said, there are loads of young families settling around - just a little east of Bradenton/Sarasota is a newish town called "Lakewood Ranch. And another called Parrish. Young families galore and nice properties, newer houses, uncluttered subdivisions, good schools.

I've been all over this state since graduating in 2006. Central, panhandle, southeast, and now Tampa. Wife and I love it here in Tampa, I could never move back to New Orleans. Maybe for a million dollars, but that's it.

Tampa is good if you get a job there. Cost of living seems pretty low. Pinellas county on the coastal side of the bay is more my style, though. NE St Pete FTW. Dunedin and Safety Harbor are good areas, too.
