At least St. George would have relieved the Parish of providing some services. The impact to those living outside of Baton Rouge would have been less severe. Going forward there will not be the same amount of money for fire protection, and there will not be the same amount of money for road repairs. Do you think people and businesses will stay in places where the infrastructure begins to decline, or do you think they will relocate to places that provide better government services? This will just add to the problems of lousy public schools.

The money for fire protection - St. George Fire Department and the Eastside Fire Department has its own funding that will not change with or without a new city and the money for roads such as the Green Light Plan has dedicated funding as well and that also would not change with or without a new city.
