How many people actually know that Liberia was basically founded by the US with freed slaves? I remember this from history class back in the day, but it's quite fascinating, from the flag looking quite American, to the Capitol being named after president Monroe.

What is interesting is that they based their social class on the skin color. Lighter skinned African-Anericans ruled over the darker skinned populace.

I have also noticed that many cruise ships claim liberian registry...anyone know why that is? if it is bacause that is where they hire most employees, I am done with cruising for a while...
