I don't think most people think this. I find most women dont want a "heavy" cumbersome weapon. They are inclined to shy away form it. Ergo, people gravitate towards (and manufacturers offer) lightweight guns. They do this with no consideration to the recoil effects a light weight weapon produces. That said, most women won't want a .357 or .44 or .45.
I don't think your average buyer who is looking for a home defense weapon considers the same aspects people on the OB do. Most of them figure they'll never need it anyway and, errantly, fail to properly consider their choice of weapon.

And this is absolutely no offense to the OP. I'm speaking only in general terms.
