Yes. We are on the same page, here. If I was trying a style for the first time, I would get something in the 90's, if I could...

I've had plenty of beers that are rated in the 90's that I thought, "WTF?"... So the ratings are definitely not the final determiner of whether you will like a beer, or not, because, as some people have said, the ratings tend to be skewed to the high side.

I also think that some beers get lowballed a bit because of the brewer. I think Sam Adams could come out with the greatest beer in the world, and the best it would get from some people is, "This doesn't suck as much as I thought it would...".

I am gonna pick up a few new beers to try this afternoon. Can anyone reccomend some good stouts and porters to try? I am pretty sure I am going to try a Founders Breakfast stout and maybe Choklat if they have them.
