Shanghai questions

I'll be in Shanghai over a weekend in November. Any sites that are must see?
Also I've noticed a lot of the nightlife is cheesy night clubs full of angry locals, obnoxious techno music and pestering prostitutes. Are there any decent western style bars that are fun but not like the above? Are Xintiandi bars any good?
I've been to China several times but this will be my first trip to Shanghai.
Thanks for your help.

Why would you want to go to an American bar in another country?
Just get some street food or something

Go to the Boxing Cat.
Pretty sure we went to Sinan

Pick me up a t-shirt.
No, seriously...
Get an XL, they are small people, and the sizing is different.

They have river boat cruises that are pretty awesome at night with all the lights on all the buildings...

I haven't been to Shanghai since 2012' but the best American style bar I found was Big Bamboo. Decent American food and lots of American and British expats hang out there.
Malone's was cool and had cheap brews and a pretty good live band playing classic rock. To be sure there are prostitutes on-site but they weren't overly obnoxious.
Next door to Malones is Manhattans(if they are still around) which is a bar that the high end international prostitutes call home. If you don't want to deal with pestering prostitutes you should avoid this place.

Because I've been to local bars in China and it can be a dicey situation. The locals don't like westerners and I've seen several fights between young punk Chinese and westerners, the techno garbage music is blaring, smoke everywhere and you have to pay the prostitutes to leave you alone. Luckily I'm usually with locals but this time we'll be on our own so I'd prefer a more westernized bar where I don't have to put up with that stuff.

Xintiandi bars
Very ritzy and uptight from what we saw. It is better to go to the French Concession or the other concessions around there (West of The Bund) if you want to have fun at night.
One of the coolest places we went to was the Urban History Museum underneath the Pearl Tower. We were planning on going up the tower, but the smog was so bad, we just went to the first historical thing we found which was that museum. It is amazing what communism can produce. They had some of the most intricate miniature dioramas (maybe not the right word) and other displays depicting different times throughout the history of Shanghai. A shitload of models of large manors and shite. Also, I learned a shite load about Shanghai that I never knew. Some very interesting stuff.
Also, The Bund is awesome if you are into architecture and don't mind seeing people just piss right on the side of the road.
There are several cool temples and other older areas to see. We did the hop on and off bus tour one day and it was great. You have been to China so some of this might not interest you anymore. Also, never pay anywhere close to the asking price at any street vendor. We were able to haggle everything down by about 90%. And don't let them lead you into any rooms...
We had a blast, but the food was fricking disgusting and the city smelled like noodles and wet dog shite.

So true. Friend bought a US Soccer jersey from over there that was maybe XL or XXL. He may be 250 or so. I am 195, fits me like a glove

I can do that. What's your email?
And thanks for the replies. I'll look into those bars
