Seniors do Matter

If there was ever a case for the value of having seniors, all you have to do is watch Miss. State. We need more guys like Lael Collins and Glenn Dorsey who play their senior years at LSU. It matters. Early entrants to the NFL are killing us. Why do so many players think that delaying their entry to the NFL for one year benefits them so much?

These are student athletes and they should be required to stay in school for four years to earn their degrees.

But players leaving early is good!!!!

I don't blame some of these kids for leaving early, but it's undeniable that the wave of early exits have really set back the program.

Gone are the days you expect guys to stay 4 years. Don't redshirt talent, develop them early because they'll be gone in three.

Because they can make enough to pay for 5 college educations in one year. It's not a difficult concept

Perhaps it is time for the NFL to make low cost insurance available through them to players. Unlike MLB and the NBA, the NFL has not had to fund minor league operations; either the raids on the college program stop or the NFL should be required to have minor leagues.

Any player who leaves early should be arrested

They don't or else they wouldn't be leaving early, duh!

Yep.
Can you imagine how bad MSU will be next year though. That is why I hope they win the West. They won't hurt us in recruiting by winning a championship. They are going to be one and done, and awful next year....plus they will likely lose their coach next year to Florida.....Also, their fans aren't nearly as arrogant as Ole Miss.

I'm not going to blame any guy for jumping to make big money and live out his dream, but a lot of our guys would be worth it, to stay another year. It helps us out, and helps them out.
Collins is still rated as a first round draft pick, and prior to this week, has been the only bright spot on the offensive line.

what?
Dude you cant force an adult, over the age of 18, to NOT work and FORCE him to stay in school and earn a degree.

Young talent needs leadership.

Can't or won't? The NFL already requires 3 years out of high school. What's an extra year?
Most of the former NFL players I've spoken to emphasize getting the degree. Imagine how things would change if the NFL required a four year degree.

there are many, many reasons this wouldn't happen. The 3 year rule is largely to guarantee physical development. A lot of guys to go back and get their degree, Devery Henderson and Early Doucet are taking classes at LSU this semester.

SEC is the minor league for the NFL.

Underclassmen leaving early was unheard of, if not allowed by the NFL, until the USFL snatched Herschel Walker from UGA after his junior season.

And it's hard to believe, but that was 30 years ago, already. Damn, I'm old. It doesn't feel that long ago.
It was only ten or so years before THAT, frosh could not even play varsity. Anyone remember the "Baby Bengals?"
