I haven't watched those in a long time. Masters of Horror was also hit or miss. And they were hour longs, so the misses could be worse from a waste of time perspective. A 30-minute Crypt miss is not a bad thing.
As a kid, the Crypt or Darkside episode that freaked me out the most was the Mirror-Ghost Thing. The guy would see someone in the mirror that got progressively closer through the day.
I was like 9 or 10, and couldn't look at a mirror for a week.

It's great to see this happening, I wish that the Grindhouse type of movie was still popular in theaters. V/H/S 2 was my favorite of the two.

I am thinking that the mirror episode you are referring to is from the series Amazing Stories.
Mirror, Mirror starred Sam Waterston, featured Tim Robbins, and was directed by Martin Scorsese.
Also freaked me out as a kid.
