Agreed. We have always had the per capita talent. A great coach can win lots of hardware here.

What is the Phil Fulmerization effect you ask? Its when the fans place unrealistic expectations on the program only to force out the head coach a few years later.

The problem is not firing the coach. It is the next guy you hire to replace him. Thats what worries me with Alleva as the AD. He is a bean counter and i have no faith we would get a KNOWN Quantity in a head coach.

Also how is it possible that LSU is not among the top as far as facilities and recruiting budget. I blame Alleva for that as well, though I'm sure there are other factors.

Remember when Bama fired Shula after going to the SEC title game? Crazy shite happens. If Saban doesnt leave miami, how fricked would they be?

It's more like the Laweezyana effect:
Hire best coach of the century to build up program.
Because of the talent rich state, hire a coach who can keep the Ferrari I between the ditches. While this will help in the immediate time frame, it will also allow an average coach to produce average or above average results for long periods of time.

Really???? Do you realize the talent les has had here? It was enough to win 4 nattys. 06. 07. 2011 and 2012.

In any given year there are anywhere from 4 to 8 teams that "have enough talent" to win the national championship. Most of them don't.

Miles going 1 for 4 is probably about par for the course. Chip Kelly "had enough talent" to win a couple of championships, but never did. Same with Harbaugh/Shaw. Mark Richt. Mack Brown "had enough talent" about 7 or 8 times, and only managed one MNC.

exactly. just because a guy wins a title does not mean he is infallible and cannot go downhill and need to go. According to some here if a guy wins a title keep him forever regardless!
zook went and UF got better with Meyer

so your premise is a response to people saying Miles is infallible because he won a title, which is obviously a straw man because no one came close to saying anything like that, but it's SO dumb that not even you can stick with it on your first examples, and you're the one who made it up.

quote:

donnan went and UGA got better with richt

in his 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th seasons, Richt went 31-14 (11-2,10-3,8-5,2-4 in the first 6 games).
Miles is 37-9 over that same span. so if Richt is a good coach...

quote:

shula went and bama got better with saban

really taking some bold stances here, arent you. youre skipping the part where they offered the job to rich rodriguez and only stumbled blindly onto saban

quote:

bowden(nc coach btw) went and FSU got better with jimbo
chizik (nc coach btw) went and auburn got better with malzahn.

finally we get to the coaches with titles, and of course your examples are dumb. Fisher was hired as HCIW 3 years before Bowden was fired, and Malzahn was only gone for 1 season. that was one promotion and one easy hire, situations not comparable to LSU at all

quote:

you will have times like coker at miami and fulmer at Tennessee

Coker took over the most talented program of all time and spiked it into the dirt like a fricking lawn dart, on multiple levels, how is he comparable to Fulmer in any way?

From 2010-2013 LSU is 44-9 in the toughest division

Such horseshite

Why did Vandy fire their coach in 2010? Because they were 1 of the toughest teams in the toughest conf?
Ole Miss in 2011?
A&M in 2011?
KY in 2012?
Auburn in 2012?
Arky in 2012?
Tenn in 2012?

And Fla wasn't consistently tough from 2010 to 2013. Neither was Moo St. Neither was UGa. Didnt play Mizzou

That's a lot of coaches to go through if their teams were so tough?

The only 2 consistently tough teams we have played were So Car & Bama. The way Miles coaches only makes the other SEC coaches look good (see Dooley, Nutt, Chizik, Muschamp, John L Smith, Bielema).

Hard to compare Tennessee to LSU when LSU is sitting on a recruiting hotbed and Tennessee's recruiting area is a hot mess.

While true, we werent sitting on a hot bed when Miles got here.

Per capita is such bullshite. LA had down years from 2005-2010. We had to recruit oos to keep the program afloat.

Lets look at Last years draft. LA had 10 players drafted. FL had 44. 4 times as many players from Florida went to the Nfl than did LA. So even if we sign all 1O of those guys, which none of them were qbs, that doesnt even make up a team. now if any of those florida teams hold down the state, they are set. Even if you spread those players out amongst 4 teams, thats 4 teams in florida with equal talent as LSU.

here is the problem, Our state produces athletes, not line backers, not dts, not qbs. Wrs, Rbs, and dbs are LAs bread and butter. Sorry but this per capita shite is the biggest bullshite argument especially considering Les became coach when a hurricane ravaged the most talent rich part of the state.

georgia had 25 players drafted, 25. Split that between GA and GA tech, still more than LSU.

Again you prove to be one of the shittiest posters on this board.

No I didn't but since you brought it up and obviously don't know what happened to Fulmer's program I let you in on it. It has been discussed in the sports world ad nauseum that Fulmer recruited OOS heavily and successfully in the Carolinas, GA, FL, AL, LA, and MS. He had too because TN has very little in state talent. When each of the state programs picked up their game and started retaining their instate talent Fulmer's recruiting started falling off drastically. Hence the start tDecline at UT.

Auburn wasn't bold. They just realized Malzan was the brains of Chiziks operation, and they were right

Fulmers recruiting and coaching sucked at the end. The problem wasn't forcing him out but who they replaced him with.

So we should expect to get blown out in our first 2 sec games and convert 2 of 26 3rd down conversions? Wow! I didn't know that.

These things happen when the best players on your team (with the exception of two or three guys) are all freshmen

This.

I swear people on this board believe that 2 Nick Sabans and a Chip Kelly are lined up outside of the sports admin building, resumes in hand.

great job rebutting all the facts I have laid out in this thread.

yeah our per capita talent has always sucked huh? yeah there was no talent for curley or retardo either huh. They were great coaches just had no talent pool.

So Saban lied when he said that was a MAIN reason why he took this job?
