That sucks, dude! How did your vinyl make out? That would be my bigger concern over the gear...
Correct.
I thought it was all OK as I ran my hands across the fronts of all the LPs and they were dry. Later on that night, after I was completely exhausted, I got the little rig going so I could sit alone by the light of a solitude lamp while listening to Space Wrangler, and ponder why I live in Louisiana.
As I started to pull some LPs out, they felt heavy—well shite!—about 40% (my guesstimate, as I really didn’t have the energy to start pulling them all out) seem to have taken water. They were all in plastic 4-mil thick outer protective sleeves, so I venture considerable rainwater flowed down the back wall which the built-in cabinets/shelves are built against.
The crappy part is that 60% of those are limited or numbered runs, or 200g 45rpm versions (MoFi, Analog Productions, Speakers Corner, Classic Records Quiex LP, test pressings, Japanese pressings, etc.) that are now unobtanium. I guess I won’t know the full extent until I start pulling them one by one.
The problem now is that I have nowhere to put them once I go through them—everything is still wet throughout the house (all interior walls and ceilings took on considerable water), and it is raining heavily again now and my tarps aren’t up yet. The tarp fella is in my neighborhood, and I should have them up by tomorrow—my entire roof needs to be tarped.
Since I will try to end on a positive…the Classic Records (now defunct), 200g, 2006 first ever reissue of the Led Zeppelin catalog is OK!! (the Classic Records reissue is the Holy Grail of any LZ reissue). If you want sticker shock, go to eBay and enter “Classic Records vinyl Led Zeppelin 45rpm”!!
I still need to check on The Who, Hendrix, and Peter Gabriel Classic Records soon, as I have those complete catalogs on the shelves too, amongst others…just too many other things taking precedent right now

How much vinyl do you have? And do you have a tally yet as to what amount may be lost?
Man Marco, I feel for ya.
Prayers

Damn Marco, sad to see that. It’s like the ceiling opened up right above your rig.
As for the records, while the covers and sleeves maybe screwed at least the audio on the vinyl should be unaffected.
Best wishes. Time to let your insurance do it’s thang.
