I didn't end up pulling the trigger on any headphones at this time, but I was looking at the Hifi-Man headphones. They have very good reviews.

Appreciate that Rebelgator,
There is a Grado distributer here in BR so I'm going to try to line up a listening trial session

They don't make a bad headphone. I do like my RS better than the PS, though I did get them before the prices skyrocketed and they're not E series. However, keep in mind the ones you test will probably be broken in. They'll take a while to break in out of the box.

Modest Mouse "Lonesome Crowded West" just reissued on vinyl. I have been waiting years for this re-issue as to avoid dropping 300-500 for an OG copy.

FYI...
Mr. Grado, who founded Grado Labratories in Brooklyn, died about 2 months ago. He was around 90. He retired from the company about 15 years ago.
He actually invented the moving coil (MC) cartridge that most audiophiles use today.

I had no idea. The man knew his way around audio equipment.

Rebelgator,
You may want to take the receiver to a repair shop and have the caps (capacitors) checked or replaced. They go bad with age and happens to all solid state/transistor amps. Music will still play if you don't, but it will sound amazing if you replace the 30 year old caps. It may run $50 or so, but well worth it.

Yeah, I was going to have the wood on it and the speakers refinished anyway. Might as well.

Couldn't find a copy on record store day, but got one at the show last night...

Company oversold the used project carbon DC, so your boy gets a brand new carbon DC for $370 shipped with the full two year warranty.
fricking awesome

I really like mine...you will notice a huge difference in the build quality and solidity over the other 'table you sent back. Get the "Puck-It" center weight made by project--it's a heavy weight--heavier than it looks in the online pics. It is a nice addition, albeit $80 or so.
You will also want to get a $20 cork mat because the extremely thin felt one that comes with the table sticks to all the LPs when you take them off--static electricity.
Welcome to the world of playing records! With every upgrade in the audio chain you will notice small nuances you may have not noticed before. As you change to an integrated amp or seperate power/pre or get larger speakers that throw wider and deeper sound stages, you will really see what vinyl has to offer.
Enjoy the listen!

Really appreciate the help/tips.
Will have to make some upgrades down the road. Pretty pumped to hear the difference between the tables.
If you have a project, what's with the table you always post?

I have a few turntables. I got the ProJect because I had heard good things about it and wanted to see how it stacked up against my reference level 'tables.
While it doesn't produce some of the sound that the big VPI does, it does pretty well...but we are talking $395 vs. $18k, so I hope that there would be some significant differences.

Dear, Jesus. I guessed that bad boy was expensive based on the pics, but not nearly that expensive

Ocean,
If it helps lessen the sticker shock, that total is for the table, Lyra cartridge, center weight, periphery ring clamp, ceramic bearing upgrade, motor flywheel upgrade, outboard speed control box, Nordost wiring in the arm tube, floating feet upgrade, XLO Reference cables, and light. Those upgrades added a good bit to the cost.

Here is my ProJect--in white with the PuckIt center weight.

Help me prioritize. Which should I purchase first, Puck or acrylic platter?

Thanks. I bought a cork mat the week after I bought my TT. That felt mat is from the devil.
