Ok - I agree on Becehet. But, do some more research on Miles. Kind of Blue was not his first album, by a long shot.

So you'd rather an artist keep rehashing earlier works instead of experimenting (or in this case - inventing) new styles? Aren't risk-taking and evolution good things?
Also smack heads in the jazz scene are a dime a dozen.
