I post this in every Ebola thread. Only 3K people have died in Africa, the continent with perfect plague conditions. NBD.

I'm not saying we should be worried, because I think a lot of this is overblown, but 3500 people have died so far and the number of infected are steadily growing.
There's a theory that this particular strain of Ebola progresses a little slower, which would mean more time for the infected to live/travel and infect others. As of right now it is estimated that every person who gets Ebola will give it to 2 other people - not a good ratio.
If the new containment strategies don't work, we could be looking at over a million by January.
That being said, I think we will get it under control very soon.
