Time to settle this once and for all. Who is the king of all music on the music board.
List the reasons you think your musical prowess is better than others on this board

Me
I don't think I need to post reasons, and I know the rest of the board agrees.

My reggae and jazz collection laughs at you

I vote Andre. He's heard every single song played on a laptop in the last 5 years and less than 100 songs that don't fit into that category.

Growing up in Arkansas in the 80s, I basically lived with two older brothers straight out of Dazed and Confused (it being Arkansas, we were about a decade behind). They gave me a healthy appreciation for 60s and 70s classic rock and metal.
I then got into the 80s and had a huge hip hop phase which continues to this day. My tastes back then were for gangster at first then moved into more conscious hiphop from the native tongues set.
I also skateboarded, so I listened to a lot of punk and hardcore as well as getting into "alternative" at this time (Jesus Jones, Soup Dragons, the Cure, etc.. etc..).
Then I went through about a 20 years jamband phase, so I've got that base covered as well. This threw me into reggae, bluegrass, jazz, and even classical throughout this phase. One of my best friends managed to the college radio station as well, so he kept feeding me all the alternative shite (Modest Mouse, Pavement, etc..)
Now I've emerged from that and I'm pretty into every genre with my main ones being "alternative" (whatever that is... if Pitchfork/Stereogum review it, I probably listen to it), hip hop (Doomtree, Atmosphere, Mick Jenkins, Chance the Rapper, and a bunch of others as well as that ignorant commercial shite), folk/alt.country/indie.folk, and metal (progressive and doom/stoner).
My tastes are pretty diverse, but I wouldn't say I have the most knowledge (my aforementioned buddy who managed the college radio station holds that title for people I know personally).

Yup. Yup. Little Rock actually had a freaking amazing hard core scene back in the last 80s and early 90s. It's been documented in LINK /
Also American Hardcore is a freaking excellent music doc.
