This is exciting news I know. But let the kid get a few sec games under his belt before we start going all Heisman on him! Just sayin!!

In 2008, same situation happened. Our QB was struggling and we put in the more athletic true freshmen who all the fans really wanted to play. We hyped him up incredibly and let's just say this worked out just fine. The situation was without any controversy for the rest of their careers.

Nonsense and Blasphemy.
He shall henceforth be known as BH6.
He will need a slogan and some sort of hand gesture ... perhaps the 'thumbs up' or 'hang ten' ... maybe even the 'reverse bird' if JFF has not patented it.
4 Heismans ... 4 MNCs. BOOK IT.

I think you can take the "M" out of there now.

Nope ... so long as Alabama and Notre Dame are not guaranteed a spot in the playoff ... any such NCs won in which either of them are not represented ... will result in "mythical."

I think everyone will expect Harris to take his lumps in SEC play and forgive him for it. First, because they know what the alternative is. And because they know his upside, and they've seen his potential demonstrated against an opponent who, while of inferior talent, our "starting" QB still struggled against. We know where Harris can and will take us in the next couple years, and we know he must undergo certain growing pains to get there.

Not really the same situation at all. Not only is Harris the better athlete, but he has the much, much better arm.
JJ was limited by that. If anything, Harris is more like Lee
The better comparison, IMO, would be to JR in 2004.

I agree, but it's not even about that. It's about playing the QB who gives you the best chance to win, while preparing for the future as well. He won't be perfect and he will make mistakes, but the experience he will gain is a treasure for the future. Swinney doing the same with Deshaun Watson.

I've seen 0 similarities thus far.

I'm extremely hopeful Harris brings a new dynamic we have yet to see.

Jefferson was pretty damn good in 08 and 09.

This! People need to realize this is his first start and not expect to much. As much as I hate to say it i Can handle a loss Saturday if we play disciplined and our coaches call a game that puts us in a position to win. Obviously we must run the football but it wouldn't hurt to be 60/40 run pass.

Great runner, but his passing abilities were always suspect.

Agreed. He gives us the best chance to win this season and down the road and years to come. But this is first road start. At Auburn. Against a team who will be wanting to avenge their only regular season loss last year. This is not a game we can reasonably expect to win. Not at this moment. Lets just see this team and Harris make this a competitive game and build for the rest of the season and seasons to come
