It doesn't really matter if private property or not. It doesn't matter if trespassing or not. Booby traps on your own land with the intent to kill/harm other humans are illegal.

Oh yeah. It was just an almost semantics point really. From my understanding the neighbor is liable to some degree. I just also think there's room to doubt that this was actually a "booby trap" with intent to harm. Like I said, it just sounds like a poorly conceived rope fence.

fricking liberals trampling all over our god-given second amendment rights to plant traps for children. You can have my booby traps when you ply them from my cold dead hands. (And hopefully, I'll have the foresight to booby trap my hands before I die.)
