She's also an absolutely horrible writer. It makes me question the intelligence of people/politicians when they claim her books to be their favorites.

How so? I'm not an objectivist, and don't agree with her all of her philosophy, but she was not a bad writer. Some books are better then others. I think the Fountainhead can stand on its own, and We the Living is quite powerful. I'm not as big a fan of Atlas Shrugged and Anthem, and maybe because both are more science fiction and I don't think she gave this genre justice.
Her philosophy and non-fiction can be overly terse at times, and I can maybe see your point here, but it does vary.

Thank you! I had to read Atlas Shrugged in college and her writing was absolutely atrocious. My prof was practically fawning over her the whole time too, just an awful class. Then 4 years later or so I see all these conservatives holding up her books as some wonderful reading. Ugh.
