I agree that he will get taken to the cleaners in civil court, though.
Nah. He may settle for a little bit, but not much.
Some of you dudes have no clue what the frick you're talking about.

Anybody with at least a room temperature IQ expected no charges.

Well, it's pretty hard to prove he wasn't responsible for Ward's death when they have it on video. I'm still shocked that he wasn't at least charged.

So, let's say a football player committed a violent helmet to helmet hit and by some freak accident the guy died, should that player be charged with something?

That's just plain stupid. They have to prove he WAS responsible, that's kinda how the system works. The video doesn't show any intent or recklessness.

This is a cash grab by the Ward family. It cheapens my opinion of them. Racers and racing families understand the risks. Kevin Ward was a TPoS for endangering the lives of his competitors with his impaired driving. If he had been caught in the ranks of NASCAR or IRL on the track using the marijuanas, we would have been banned from competition. There will be an early settlement. We won't hear the details of it. The Ward's attorneys won't let this go to court. It's too risky.

LSUgrrl was right, even in civil court, with Ward's toxicology, they won't win.
Much like Martin's family, I doubt they file.
