How Do You Fix A "Soft" Defense?

That is where we are, folks.
You can say all you want about Miles, the game plans, etc, but the primary issue I see is a SOFT front 7 on D. It's been this way going on two years now and it's primarily made up of the same group. Main difference this year is that we will not have a record setting offense to distract from it.
IMO, the only way to fix it is to replace the current group ASAP. Being soft is a mindset. These guys clearly are entrenched in that mindset.
Third and long? No problem. You can take it.
Consistent 15+ yard runs right up the gut? You can take it.
90 yard drives? Sure, take those and score within just a few plays.
Do any of you realize that when we were down 17 last night our questionable O had dominated TOP and first downs? Yeah, we shite the bed on first and goal at the two, but to have your D step on the field and give up 98 yards in just a few plays, well...
I use the phrase "soft" because the other appropriate terms would be deleted.
I don't know if the new guys are the answer, but the guys the past two years (don't want to name them) clearly aren't.
Thank goodness Wisky had a shitty QB and quit running Gordon. They too would have hung 30+. At this point, I see OM, Bama, ATM, hanging 40 on this D, with Arky running wild in the last week of the season.
I hope I'm wrong.

You are so out of touch with reality

We have what we have and we will just have to deal with it for the rest of the season

Same guys? WTF are you talking about? We lost our two starting DTs from last year. That's where most of the damage was done. You can blame the MLB all you want, but Dick Butkus couldn't stop the Bulldogs last night the way they were pouring through the DTs. When Beckwith is in the game we're still getting gashed.
What new guys do you propose putting in there?

Who has been recruiting these guys? Maybe it does start with CLM. Maybe if we put more emphasis on an explosive offense our defense wouldn't get tired .

I realize reality is we play with what we have.
Perhaps recruit with a different philosophy then?
Quit chasing after undersized DEs with speed? iDK
All I know is this group is weak, and it showed week 1 against a Big 10 team that could have run for 400 yards if they wanted to.

If your offense has 3 points through 3 quarters you're not going to win many games.

We were soft then bro.

And the two DTs we lost last year were run over pretty consistently too, were they not? I recall UGA, OM, Bama, Arky having their way with them.
Maybe Valentine will be the anchor we need.

we have a great DT that the SEC is screwing us over with

We could gash D's like that too if we would just spread the damn field! LSU has too many weapons not to......
