If you still live in Denham, I think a much more "romantic" trip might be something like the Shadetree Inn in St. Francisville

Hotel Ikon was nice. Walk to a lot of things. Not damn thing wrong with downtown Houston anymore. More bars, restaurants than u can stand down there.
