This. And like I said, the military has most certainly underachieved in the ME since we arrived. This carte blanche of taking some retired man's opinion as gospel is ridiculous.

For all we know these guys are setting up a run for office - it's not like they've spent a day of their lives working in the private sector.

I think you have to add caveats such as: we're trying to kill the enemy but not hurt innocent civilians. The enemy doesn't play by any rules and neither should we IF we want to completely kill the enemy.

And it's not like Obama has spent a day on the battlefield with a rifle.

The military has underachieved? By what metric? Poor strategic objectives lead to a failed campaign.
