the WCW fall was an inside job. Even Eric bischoff said he they let him buy WCW it would have been for a lot more than what Vince bought it for.
Bischoff talks a lot of shite. Some of it is factual, some of it not.
The Fuscient offer that Bischoff put together may have been for more total money than Vince paid, but it was being done in installments rather than a lump sum and would have required Turner Broadcasting to keep Nitro and Thunder on the air while they were getting money from the sale.
Considering that Time-Warner wanted to get WCW off its books completely, selling to Vince for pennies on the dollar in a cash sale was a better option than selling to Fuscient on an installment plan.
You can debate the merits of Turner Broadcasting executive Jamie Kellner canceling Nitro and Thunder during the middle of all this, but him doing so ensured that Vince McMahon was the only person who would be seriously interested in purchasing WCW.
Kellner's decision wasn't tied to Vince or any conspiracy, as he'd had a history of canceling successful shows in other programming jobs because he didn't like that show and wanted to push his own pet projects instead.
