Lightning surge hit my apple time capsule and xbox

They will not power on at all. Is the data on the hard drive retrievable and is there a way to fix or reset either device? I think a direct hit occurred two houses down from me so this was not a big surge. It did not even trip the surge protectors.
Go easy on me, I am new to this board.

Don't worry the smart-arse moronic posters will be here in no time...LOL
I took a close lightning strike a few years back...screwed up 1/2 of the Harmon Kardon system,2 LED TV's AND the dishwasher. Check EVERY possible electric device in your home...prob. best to get a licensed electrician to evaluate EVERYTHING and send all documentation to your insurance carrier....mine{ State Farm} replaced about 80% of the total value/loss after the 1k deductible !

Is it an Xbox one? Make sure that you disconnect both devices from the power supply and for the Xbox disconnect the power supply (the brick) from the power cord. Let them sit for awhile. The power supply for the Xbox needs to completely drain before it will turn back on.

Thanks. I will try that. Can u do something similar for the apple hard drive or is that hopeless?

It worked! The Xbox started up right away, but the hdmi connection gave me an error - connot read this type of output or something like that. I plugged in a different wire (used component plugs) and it worked. Do u think the hdmi cord is fried?

probably hopeless, you might ask the guys at the Apple partner in Brookwood mall if they know any way to get the media out of the time capsule.
The reason I asked about Charter Cable is I have several friends who have had similar issues. Their grounding in the Birmingham area is horrendous.
