The News Star reported this week that Todd Berry now publicly admonishes any fans wearing LSU gear in the Grove before games. I understand trying to build the fan base, but I get sick of people having an inferiority complex and worrying about the flagship school.

But ULM is not anywhere near the level of pathetic penis envy that La Tech exudes towards LSU. Those La Tech frickers are flat out weird and cultish, NEVER have I seen a more insecure and delusional group of people.

I'll take it a step further. There doesn't seem to be a cultural "rift" between Baton Rouge and Monroe like there is with Baton Rouge and Lafayette either. A lot of Lafayette/USL people REALLY hate Baton Rouge/LSU. I mean over-the-top semi-hysterical loathing, the kind we normally reserve for different political parties or in-conference death-match rivals. IMHO, It's that whole self-loathing South Louisiana persecuted-Cajun complex/ Angry Pierre /French/Napoleon-insecurity thing. ULM people seem much more secure/confident and aren't always poking LSU people in the chest.

Of course I may be completely wrong.

As expected. I work with "special needs" adults and I often ask them if their contribution of piss and shite and farting is what they are after. Some smile and say "yeah".

You're an embarrassment, but of course not to the piss balloon platoon. Go root for a junior high team, little man.

Go ahead, say something cute, let me guess - it has to do with pooping or peeing and save us the time.

Monroe is huge LSU town per capita. A lot of good looking women and good football talent come out of Monroe

Seems true. But at the same time, let's not forget that Acadiana players are typically all LSU if they have the opportunity to get a scholarship offer. Just off the top of my head, our leading WR, our starting RT, and two starting LBs are from the area.

I know we're talking about the fanbase here. I just thought I'd point out some of the ways the area supports LSU, though.

Monroe -Ruston fan base has always been pro-LSU. And some of the best recruiting area in the land. Why do you think the midget from the east TRIES to recruit so heavy there.Ruston seems to be more pro LSU at the HS level, and do have some true tech fans. The smaller teams around NE La., put out talent too. Got to put that lock back on the gate in N.E. La., its too important to the Tigers. The fans around Monroe-West Monroe are all pro LSU then slide back to thier regional rivalries after that.

Hes wasting his time. And will P.O. his ULM fans , its Tigers one, then back the locals. It is Louisiana State University ,after all.The goal for any top La. player is LSU.

Of course Acadiana is loaded with pro-LSU people. In fact, maybe most people. Its just that the sizeable anti-LSU contingent feel like they need to tell you about it as much as possible.

I've always liked ULM because they have their own identity that doesn't seem to be dependent on hating LSU to energize/justify their own spot .

not really, a couple of recent NC's got a lot of people in N. La. on the band wagon, in the "70's when we were so-so in football and Tech was tearing up the minor leagues there was tremendous LSU bashing, taunting, and begging for a game, I wish to hell we would have played them back then

Ruston puts out a lot of LSU talent. Especially linemen, and thier was this QB named Ruston Rifle. I know the time period you are talking about,it was more like the 90,s than the 70,s.Of Tech was a big deal in Division 2 in the 70,s a div II NC , then thier was the Bradshaw days before that. But I remember going to Tech games and listning to LSU on the radio..The Curley times, but is was a passing thing, got to admit it was lean times for LSU and Tech was tering it up with thier passing game, ask Nebraska and a little later Bama a couple of times. But still the aim for any good athlete out of that area is LSU. Everywhere is LSU garb, hardley ever is a tech or ULM shirt ,coat or cap seen. Lots of LSU season ticket holders from that area too. You dont know how lucky you are not to have to drive 4 hours one way to see the Tigers.

I think you are right and wrong. Some ULL fans absolutely hate LSU because they are jealous and this group is very vocal. This small group gives the rest of Lafayette a bad name.

If you drive around Lafayette you will see many more LSU bumper stickers than ULL stickers. Also, go into Academy or Wal-Mart and there is overwhelmingly more LSU gear than ULL gear.

Yea I see where you said 70s now , Ill have to disagree, LSU still was the State school. I drove down in 76 to see LSU open up against Neb.,in 65 to see the Tulane game, the earthquake game, USC in 79, to the cotton bowl in 66, LSU was always the destination, you must have been around some hard core Techsters in Shreveport.Shreveport has some strange small fan base pockets, look at the Cowboys fans there, when the entire state is Saints.

I think it's great that LSU is truly now the state school and everyone rallies around them and supports them, just saying that wasn't always the case in N. La.
