Really? That character was the best part of that season.
I don't know, it was a pretty laid back character style, well done by him, but not that difficult. Playing the Doctor he shows a lot more range.

It helps when you have much more screen time.
Capaldi's the best actor this show's ever had.

To add to my thoughts (SPOILERS):
My fiancee loved this episode, especially the speech by Danny on the couch.

Loved tonight's episode! Not even so much because of the plot (which was fine) or the threat (which was fine). But capaldi gets better with every episode. He really is a joy to watch, even while I'm thinking what a jerk he is. It's amazing to me how every new series doctor casting decision has been a home run so far, and each better than the last.
Pink's scene in the tardis confronting the doctor was also excellent. When I first heard of the new boyfriend being added, I thought it might be an "add a kid" creative decision. But so far he really adds a lot to the series.

I have to disagree here. I was not a big fan of Smith's Doctor because I never bought him as the Doctor. I think there are two reasons for this: he wasn't a fan of the show before getting the part and Amy.

Roberts on why Chesterton didn't show up last ep
quote:
Speaking exclusively to CultBox, Roberts revealed: “I just thought [including Ian in 'The Caretaker'] would be too much of a distraction. I think that’s an episode all of its own. I thought, particularly after the 50th, where there were lots of references to past Doctor Who, sometimes you need to just put your foot on the accelerator and keep going forward.”
...
He added: “There’s a tiny reference to that first year of Doctor Who in ‘The Caretaker’ which is the Coal Hill motto, on the wall of the parent’s evening: “a great spirit of adventure”, which is what the Doctor says about Ian and Barbara in ‘The Sensorites’. I thought that was a nice nod in the background.”

Just watched it
SPOILERS:
COURTNEY SUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKSSSSSSS
Other than that, phenomenal
Since Cold War, I've been suspecting that Clara is based on my fiancee. I'm now sure of it. RTD, I know you're following me now
Seriously, fricking amazing episode.
Based on the press/rumours, it was anticlimactic. I enjoyed this version much more.
The Doctor as an a-hole = awesome
Capaldi has rocketed into my top 4
Clara is fighting for top 2
COURTNEY SUCKS
My ideas about the world = this episode
This episode will be used in philosophy classes for the next 50 years.

Must not read spoilers! Think it should be a good episode, even if the kid looks super annoying. I can't wait to see the "42" suit again.

Spoilers:
Loved this episode. Capaldi is killing it. Yet another different but great fresh take on the intervention themes. In keeping with other great moments such as fires of Pompeii, waters of Mars (loved the time lord victorious moments, fleeting though they were), etc. sometimes he intervenes and changes history, sometimes he tries not to. And we are kept guessing as to what is the right approach.
side notes:
I wanted the space whale from beast below to hatch from the moon. Even though pink had minimal screen time, he was very effective yet again. The kid wasn't quite as bad as I feared but still annoyed me. I never understood the gravity effects this episode.
I have not heard anything about next week but the preview looked solid. I hope it's good. It looks like he's companionless from what I could tell. That should be interesting for this doctor. Will he have a conscience without Clara to be his carer???
End spoilers.

Mummy on the Orient Express SPOILERS:
That was...odd.
Didn't like Clara's hair.
The mummy itself was good.
Ending was a bit rushed.
Dumb solution for the mummy, weird solution for Clara staying
Liked the jelly-baby moment.
Still a decent episode, but I'd rank it right around Sherwood.
Perkins has to be one of the "nethersphere" people, right?
The much talked about Foxes appearance was...underwhelming. Did she even say a word? Just did a cover song, and not a particularly good one.

Who??
It was an enjoyable but not spectacular episode.
The jelly baby was great. But the "are you my mummy?" had me

Popular British singer. She was the one singing at the beginning on the train. Media here's been hyping her appearance since it was announced.

Ok. I thought it was odd how they kept focusing on her. Too much I thought.

I am warming on Clara. She's no Amy Pond, though.
From the moon episode - The lady that was the female astronaut survived several seasons of MI-5. Was nice to see her again.
