You have noticed that we have only 2 credible options for quarterback and they are dual-threat and subject to injury, meaning at any moment we have only one if one gets nicked, in trouble, out for the season, or has a serious TD Travin car wreck. It was kind of blind to sit on a 5th yr JUCO, Mett, and not have a solid group of trained QBs like Baylor, A&M, OR, OSU, Auburn, Bama, FSU, OU, etc. The problem is that the HUNH air raid spread option offenses are recruiting magnets because they are winning and the top Div 4 & 5 HS programs are all spread option HUNH and they want to play for programs that highlight their offensive skills. It is a trickle up effect all the way to the top NFL programs like Seattle with Pete Carroll running a West Coast spread offense, even the Saints are running 5 WRs. So the majority see their best shot at the NFL going through HUNH programs so Sumlin and Spavital (29 yrs old) and Briles are likely targets for NFL jobs this next yr.

RAT is short for Rating as in Passer Rating circa 1973. Surely you look at stats in Box Scores and move the cursor over the headings to get a definition of the column.

Jennings has his moments and strengths and chemistry with TD Travin and Diarse who is my favorite team player. Harris and Dupre were born on the same day and they practiced that reflex fade route and Harris and Fournette are roomates like Dural and Jennings. So their are strengths to be recognized. Harris has touch and good arm strength and spreads the ball around. I am watching the other games and the top SEC West teams are better than ever. I don't understand anointing anyone just because they had seniority. 7 out of the last nine BCS Champions were freshman or first yr starters. I like watching them both play and think they should be rotated like the backs, line, and special teams, but when they come in it would be nice to see them run a package of plays and not both stand around staring at the sideline waiting on a play. There needs to be more pace.

It takes a truly special poster to have more downvotes than posts

He won because he had better command of the offense. He won because he is better able to lead right now.

Zero were true freshman, and Jennings is a first year starter.

the DL needs to rotate and that's all I agree with. Harris and Jennings do not need to be switching in and out for no reason. Before the season, I thought they would do this the first three games, then pick a starter. After game one, IMO, this was Jennings' team. After game two, Jennings definitely has a lock because Harris looks too nervous and jumpy every time he comes in. After last night, I am 100% sure that Harris' last meaningful play time should be New Mexico State, an injury to Jennings, or if Jennings is playing horribly (3 ints in one half).

I'm not trying to rag on him, but he doesnt know the play half the time, looks confused, and looks nervous/jittery. He is a true freshman, so I can understand this.

Since we only have 2 QBs they should be getting equal time in these tune-up games. Miles and Cam are high on Harris and Miles told SEC Network that Harris wins 10 out 10 head to head competitions and just needs game time.

This Passer Rating chart (RAT) is not a QB Rating chart (QBR). It includes only pass play stats, not running or strength of team defense faced or home or away etc. At the bottom it has the NCAA min of 75% of games played and 15 atts/game played. Jennings had only 13 atts in game 2, his best game against an undersized FCS school, and including those stats by mistake in this chart and calling it a QB rating chart generated the claim he was first in the SEC and 5th in the nation, ahead of at least 8 other teams with better Passer Ratings and some having played ranked SEC opponents. ESPN criteria are that the QB or other Passer must have participated in 20 plays per game to be rated. That is why Harris is reported by all the news media as having a higher Passer Rating and QB Rating than Jennings (they use ESPN data). Harris has completed 5 of 7 attempts in two games and had better yards/run with no interceptions. As we have only 2 QBs and since dual-threat QBs are more prone to injury, we better hope they are on equal footing. Gus Malzahn echoes the sentiments of every other FBS Div-I school by saying "You can never have enough QBs, every thing on offense begins and ends with them." The other SEC schools avg 5-7 QBs on the roster with a good mix of experienced and Freshmen talent. The JUCO ranks have provided Auburn with Cam Newton and Nick Marshall and LSU with Mett: all worked out well. Aub plays the JUCO game better than everyone except K State and LSU is at the bottom when drawing from JUCO talent.

Startling Fact: Zero = the number of LSU quarterbacks ranked on the SEC's all-time list of the top 21 QBs with the best winning percentage as starters. Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee account for 19 of the QBs.

LSU has notoriously under recruited for the QB spot and hopefully Cam Cameron is going to change that and we finish the season SEC champs, NC champs or at least ranked high enough to attract premium QBs. A progressive offense is the second best recruiting tool to winning. Dual-threat QBs are going to go play for spread option teams and teams that will get them to the NFL. It is a proven fact that a spread option offense is a recruiting tool with HUNH addiing an extra advantage. Cam knows them, is implementing the plays, and not only are they predominating High School Championships, they are in the premier ACC, SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, and Big 10 schools. They are also all over the NFL from the Seahawks implementing Malzahn's plays, to the Saints running 5 WR sets to spread the field, Chip Kelly took it with him, and Sumling and Briles are being wooed by NFL teams.

Freshman and first year starters are WILDLY different. You're a special kind of dumb, aren't you?
