quote:No, I didn't. The desire/attraction to basketball is complex and based on genetics, culture, environment, society, personality, aesthetics, a million things. Sexual desire/attraction is equally as complicated, actually probably more so. It is not as simple as "some people are born gay". That's what I said.
You've stated it was a choice similar to enjoying playing basketball.

You're totally guessing though. You said yourself nobody has a clue how sexual attraction works so stop acting like you know.
All I was telling you is that I knew from a very young age that I was attracted to the same sex. I didn't make a cognizant decision to choose to be attracted to the same sex. It was not a choice for me. Whether environment or w/e played a part in it for me, that's honestly irrelevant because either way, it wasn't a choice for me.
And nobody is saying you have to embrace homosexuality. Society generally expects you to treat people with respect and dignity at the very least. But you aren't expected to line up in a gay pride parade.

You can be born gay without there being a "gay gene". Variations in the levels of hormones within the womb during reproductive development can affect how a baby grows, for example.

Yes, I've stated there are certain predispositions, and these can vary in degree. I don't know what you're getting at. I'm not gonna admit I hate gays, because I don't.

I'm saying there can be reasons that are not within a person's control. Like during the reproductive development stage of their life. You can't seem to understand that. Or you just don't want to.

Prove that there's not.

quote:Again, I've never said it was a choice. There's never been a large society without any homosexuality, unless they violently eradicated it. A certain percentage will have the overwhelming genetic disposition that will largely trump other factors. For those who have the genetic disposition to a lesser degree, overall the other factors take more influence. That still doesn't mean it's a choice.

You can't prove a negative, I'll say .000000000001% chance, based on our current knowledge of the human genome.

How is that reneging?

I love it when a straight man tells me I made a choice to be gay.
So arrogant. So myopic. So stupid.

Inevitability does not mean it's advisable or preferable. Duke is inevitably good at basketball but it still makes Jesus sad.

I didn't realize we had so many gay men on the board. I knew that you were, but didn't know that Mickey was.

You didn't choose to be gay.
You chose to be fabulous!
You do choose to act gay, though - a lot, apparently. (NTTAWWT)

People that write: "The "some people are born gay" is a lie, and a big one" are not neutral and if you can't see the impact of your words then the probes is with you.

People who are honest and knowledgeable will admit that there is no one-to-one genetic correspondence with homosexuality. I'll assume you fall outside of the union of honesty and knowledge.

I'll accept your deflection to me as tacit admission his position isn't neutral or that very few people would consider it that.
