Yeah, that's my problem with it. It's Spider-Man 3, but even worse. At least Spider-Man 3 is memorable, and the birth of the Sandman is actually one of the best scenes in comic book movie history. Sure most of the memorable parts (save the earlier mentioned scene) are slock, but at least I really remember it. Not sure if I remember a single line of dialog from ASM2, while I can think of a few from Spider-Man 3.
Just summarize this movie in a single sentence. If you can't, chances are it's shite. The best I can come up with is "Spider-Man pisses off some people and they kill his girlfriend." That's the best plot I can come up with. Compare that to basically every other comic book movie this summer, and they all have very easily summarized plots in one sentence.
And Garfield does have some good points. I didn't like the movie, but I think Garfield is still a really good Spider-Man.

Garfield "is" spiderman...which says a lot given that both of the movies he has been in were utter shite.
