It's a fact that we will collide with our neighbor, the Andromedia Galaxy. It will be about 4 billion years from now, and really all it does is create a fantastic light show. Plus the sun will engulf our planet by then, so it's likely we have nothing to worry about.

Even when our galaxies "collide", the chances of just two stars in the hundreds of billions of stars swarming among each other is extremely small because of the infinitesimal density of the galaxies. It would be kinda like the odds of shooting 2 shotguns in an arc facing each other from a mile away and having a tiny pellet from each shell collide. Ok I just made that example up in my head but that's what I would imagine.
