"Submarine"...the huge great white shark

Any of yall watching this program on The Discovery Channel about that 36 foot long great white shark off Capetown, South Africa? Been eating people for decades. Very interesting, but terrifying, too. They've even got camera footage of it attacking and underwater video. Another reason not to go into the water...

Thought I saw where they discredited that. No worries for me, I'll be the last in the water, after the women and children.

I have no idea one way or the other. I have never heard or read about this shark before. Seems like if this story is true, there would have been publicity about it? I have always trusted the Discovery Channel. There ain't no hoax when they showed a huge shark taking those people out when that boat sank, though.

If it's shark week stuff, half of the "documentaries" they aired were pretty much completely false. Scientists were actors or were asked other questions then footage edited together to make them seem like they were saying what they wanted them to.
Discovery is a joke. I don't know for sure, but I would put money that it's not a honest program.

It's all based on real stories people have told - but it's basically as close to a mocumentary as you can get.
They did one about mermaids too. Pretty lame.

On a separate (factual) note, I've actually gone cage diving with the great white sharks out of Gansbaai, which is just east of Cape Town. Was probably a top 3 moment in my life, just absolutely amazing. Csb

Did any of em try to bite yall? Got any video of that trip?

When you were there did you notice how many white people from SA sail and they ALL own a boat?
My friends from there have told me their families all know how to sail and have boats bc if there was a revolution during apartheid they could escape to somewhere else.

Yea, I have a video they took of us in the cage. We had 5, maybe 6 sharks show up. Water is freezing, even with a wet suit. They bait em in and then get em to head toward the cage. You can see their eyes roll back before they hit the bait.
I know it sounds strange but I was actually more nervous on the boat with them circling around than I was in the water. And I got to stay in the water for 1.5 hrs cause hardly anyone wanted to get back in.

I didn't notice that in particular but I'd believe it. We went to the apartheid museum in Johannesburg, and that shite was rough.
Cape Town is probably one of my favorite cities in the world. Really is incredible and highly underrated imo.

I've always wondered why a shark doesn't poke his nose and head through that big "hole" in the shark cage wall. Looks plenty big enough to me for one to get part way inside the cage. I'd want that open area in the cage walls to be a lot smaller!
