You better. Your wreckless parenting already endangered my Godchilds life once.
If you can't pick her up from school like any other good parent would, then you better get her a phone.

IIRC if you have a "data phone" you are required to sign up for the $30/mo data plan
switch to tmobile. that fricking retarded.
i bought my kids 2 old android phones off ebay and activated them with voice only and they get all the data they want from our wifi.

Phone comes with everything,4gig sd card, sim card.
All you do is activate it.

I don't think anyone under the age of 15 should have a phone.
My son is 12 (turns 13 in December) and we gave him a phone a few months ago. Our reasons for doing this were;
1. He has middle school football practice in the afternoons and we want him to have a way to get in touch with us in case they end practice early (which they do sometimes)
2. He spends a lot of time out with his friends in our subdivision. Him having a phone means that even when he's out of earshot, we can still reach him.
3. He's reaching an age were we're starting to give him a bit more freedom and along with that we're teaching him to be responsible for these new expanded freedoms. We want him to learn now how to be responsible for things like a cell phone and a iPad (we gave him one Christmas before last) and now as of the start of the school year a few weeks ago, a laptop. He's going to grow up and live in a world where these types of devices and technology will be a huge part of his life. We want him to be ready for that.

You both related?
No. He's the friend I started the thread for. His child is my Godchild.

Get a cheapo LG slide phone. All you can do on it is talk and text. I know, because my daughter bitches all the time about it.

turned out to be a bad valve coil. truck is back to running fine. Just wanted to let you know if you were curious at all.

Go get an at&t sim card and activate it with a number and a prepaid plan w/no data.
If the sim card is the older style, you are gonna have to have it cut down so it will be able to fit in the 4s. Either go to one of those 3rd party cell phone places or get one of these to cut the card down to size.
Once you put the sim card into the 4s, you can talk and text, but no data.
ETA: I used to sell wireless and we did this all the time for parents.

One piece of advice I'd give to any parent of a kid that they're giving a phone, tell them up front that this is not really "their phone". This is your phone that you are allowing them to use. They should have zero expectation of privacy from you on this phone and you can and will inspect the phone whenever you like.
