Les Miles wants to temper the Fournette hype he helped create

I can't wait for LF to have a huge game. It's going to be glorious.

He helped create? Why, because of the taken totally out of context MJ comment? LF being the first ever, two time Gatorade Player of the year and his size and speed is where all the hype came from. Not Les Miles. That's just stupid.

It's not Les' fault people are fricking stupid/can't read and lose their goddamn minds at any mention of Michael Jordan.

I think you guys are missing the point. No one with a grain of sense is saying the LF is a bust after one game. But what frickin sense did it make to imply that someone who'd never taken a single snap at the college level was comparable to Adrian Peterson. There were sports writers and posters here saying that he could start in the NFL (before seeing him in college). When you do that, it's easy for anything short of spectacular to seem like a huge letdown. His game against Wisky was certainly nothing to write home about, but it would have been easier to explain as freshman jitters against a stout run defense (which is all it was) if you guys hadn't spent the last few weeks acting as though he'd be dragging half their line for 11yrds at a clip.

I don't think Les is trying to lower expectations, I think he's just saying give Fournette a chance to adjust to the game first. My expectation level for him has not changed. He had some good tough runs against a stacked box, with no help from the o line. In the 1st half no one, freshman or vet, ran well due to a stacked box and poor blocking, but Fournette was lead rusher at that time.
