I wouldn't. They've had shitty snowfall the last couple of winters.
Shitty snowfall in Tahoe is still better than good snowfall in CO. Can argue about quality if you want but quantity is typically going to be better in Tahoe. And you can ride trees in Tahoe which you can't really do in CO.

Keep an eye on snow reports
Good advice I'm sure

This may be an unusual winter
Is the snowfall expected to be unusually high? low?

Hemphead has it right.
Telluride is hands down the best spot in Colorado. There are many great ones, but T-ride is the best.
If you can afford it, get to it, then by all means enjoy it.

I'm thinking high across the high Sierra and Southern Colorado, if the El Nino does develop.

Thanks, I'll definitely put this one on the list to research heavily.

I know that's SW CO, so is flying into the different airport the issue or is the drive a pain in the arse once you land?
You can fly into Telluride during the season. The airport is awesome if you like difficult approaches to mesas.
Telluride ahs almost no lift lines, great amounts of snow and fresh powder, and some really great runs.
The greens are not great, but the blues and blacks are amazing. on their busiest weekends life lines might be 5 minutes.

Its not really debatable. Tahoe gets more snow than CO. Where do you think the fronts originate and who gets them first?

Pretty sure it's the most dangerous airport in the country. As you said, a difficult approach. Pray for a Navy pilot.
You could also fly in to Montrose (I think) and rent a vehicle.

Telluride is nice but not worth the hassle. Go with easy access. You are splitting hairs trying to find the "best" It's all going to be amazing. Spend your time on the hill.

This sounds like money and we'll spend no time on greens.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. This is the snow report as of FEBRUARY 28, 2014. Who gets more snow?

Just looked it up and Montrose is an hour and 15 minute drive. Not bad.

2013 was an outlier. Your own post proves it. Look at the "% of Normal" column genius.

On average, yeah. Tahoe alpine areas get 300-500" a year, usually. Last year was bad. Tahoe snow around the lake heavier and more wet. Co has better snow IMO.

Cant argue with that although the wetness is only an issue if you haven't gotten snow in a few weeks. Typically that isn't an issue. Plus you can usually find fresh in the trees. Every area has its pluses and minuses. Trees in Tahoe are one of my favorite things though. Cant ride trees like that anywhere else that I know of.

I love CO and Tahoe, but really love Utah. Easy flight, close resorts, always snow . Hit park city!

Probably no place better than first run at Snowbird on a huge powder day. Utah is great. Love this country!
