That is why you should sign your infant up for that swim/float survival class
This is true....but think about this...how long can a baby/toddler float?
In some of these cases...they didn't realize for a good bit of time that the child was missing and then they find them at the bottom of the pool. No way that baby was in there 5-10 minutes..takes longer than that to sink to the bottom of the pool.
I def think it's a good thing...but it needs to be part of precautions taken. On top of fence/alarm and adult supervision.

You had probably let you guard down bc it was your house, familiar surroundings, no pool, no danger.
This was all just the opposite.
Apples to oranges in this case.

Anything else completely depressing you want to share with the class?

Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it can't happen. Easily. Did you not ever shower? There are times when kids are left unattended. That's just life. Hopefully you have childproof knobs and other precautions, but nothing is completely childproof.
Accidents happen. That's why they call them accidents. This is terribly sad.
Both my kids were in infant swimming resource lessons before they by 18 months. But not everybody has the resources or access to such things.

Stories like this make me sick. Who doesn't have a fence around there pool and who would let their kid go outside in a yard that had an unfenced pool? Everyone involved sounds trashy!
BTW....you really don't know what this is? It's a very common phrase.

I known mine has gotten out once because he darted out once when I was cooking and his sister slipped playing and I ran to check on her and the baby gate didn't close right and he went through the kitchen and out the door. Luckily he didn't get off the porch but they get so fast at that age.

sorry
For real though. Why would she leave her toddler alone in a stranger's house? I'd be most worried about my kid fricking up their shite. But he was a wild one and fricked up a lot of shite

Your kids were probably born with webbed feet like mine were.

I'm building a pool and this is my worst nightmare.

Sad.

This might go without saying, but we might have discovered the worst house sitter EVER.
I bet they don't get asked next time.

Maybe so, and it's why I looked for details of what happened but didn't see any. We had 3 young kids at the time. I believe my son was maybe 4? I remember the sheer panic when trying to find him. The neighbor had a hot tub and my heart sunk. Luckily, he was on his big wheel riding down the sidewalk and our neighbor walked him back home.
We learned a lesson. All I'm saying is young kids do open doors and wander, and I can understand not watching them 24/7, especially when there are more than 1.

Yet another reason I don't want a pool.

Yes I know what it is retard. Who doesnt have someone "house sitting" their house on a Thursday at noon in Zachary.
Sounds like a neighbor was mouching the pool and she became irresponsible and the kid drown.

It is sad and I'm sure the mom is devastated.
But if there is fault here it's with her.

Randy took off on his motorized four wheeler when he was 4. Luckily I was outside with him and able to run him down before he got to the highway
