Rand could beat Hillary but he can't get the nomination. It's too entrenched with establishment candidates.
What he could do would be run as a 3rd party candidate early on rather than last minute. Establish grass roots. I'm sure he's polling his chances both ways -rep primaries vs 3rd party. Wouldn't surprise me if he went Indy and I think he'd make a race out of it. Maybe choose an Indy for VP. Businessman maybe.

One possible path for Rand to the White House hinges on Hillary not having any real competition and wrapping things up early. Under that scenario, Rand could pull a Thad Cochran and get Democrats to perticpate in the Republican primaries. Remember Rush Limbaugh's Operation Chaos when he convinced Republicans to register as Democrats in order to make mischief in the Democratic primaries.
