When did you stop making 'real' friends?

I stopped at age 21 or 22. I'm in my mid 30s now and it feels like I make many acquaintances now but not really good friends.

When i got married @ 24. Seems like the married life is just not really conducive to making friends. I don't go out much anymore, and when i do the wife is generally with me

22 or so. Now it's just work friends.

I honestly don't think I've made a friend since I was 21 that I could truly trust. 26 now.

I stopped accepting close friends at about 26-27. It then became obvious the vast majority of people you meet are just looking to expand their network or business motivated.
But of course, I think differently than most.

Ditto. Last real close friend was over 10 years ago. I like my space. Lots of acquaintances though.

It peters out in your late 20's or whenever you get married. You just can't relate as well in your late twenties and thirties and older as you did in your teen, early to mid twenties. That was my experience at least.

After college, and honestly, I don't really see or talk to any of them anymore other than facebook, since most have moved to various parts of the country or overseas. I talk to my friends from high school (who also went to LSU) a lot more often, and even then it's over the internet these days. Being the only one of the group who's married with kids makes it difficult.

I don't know if I have "real" friends. Most of my friends are married. The rest want to go out and drink like they are 25 (when they are 32). I rather just hang at home by myself or with my girlfriend.

that was really depressing to read
sucks to think some don't have "real friends"
that's sounds terrible

I'm 25 and I've realized that there are only about 4 people I truly consider friends. The other acquintances I have are snakes in the grass sadly.

I sure as frick don't trust anybody I meet in Houston that I don't have some kind of similar bond with. Can't wait to get out.
I miss living in Louisiana.

You also start to value your time. "Real friends" are a commitment. I keep people an arms length and don't see it as a bad thing.

There is a social bias where the individual believe their thought process is purely original when they are actually more common than they realize.
