Just scoop up some tix and track 5 it to AL. Tickets are cheap

In regards to this specific one, my buddy that books a venue in BR told me he tried and thats what he was told (not sure if its all voodoo acts, but his (SS) was directly from voodoo)...
I know my friend has put radius clauses in his shows before...
I would imagine a lot of small bar/club shows don't, since touring town to town is the lifeblood of many bands on the road... however, I think these festivals pay well enough to make up for that..

Sturgill is playing 1230-130 on Friday afternoon for Voodoo.. plenty of time to drive to Baton Rouge that night.. just saying, wishful thinking

Yep, I can understand putting a radius clause on a headliner/bigger act... but only a handful of people, if any, are going to Voodoo that early just to see him...

no idea what he was paid by voodoo, but i would think a manship sit down show or a civic theatre sold out show would do more for him long term wise than playing voodoo at lunch time on the first day.

I see Cory Branan is opening for JTE at the Civic later in November...

Let's face it: a guy playing a noon set at Voodoo isn't going to sell out the Civic.

I guess you maybe don't know much about him... he's the most popular non-bro country artist on tour right now... don't know if he would sell out the civic, but a lot of people would show up.

My only guess is to try and get more exposure to people who may not normally see him play (and lets face it, the money)... but I'm not sure that will be accomplished at noon on a Friday..

yeah, he's not exactly what I would call a "festival artist" and i don't think his style lends very well to that setting.
a dark closed in venue would be a great place to see him play.

yep, all leads back to it being a money grab... can't blame him.. I like money too!

I'd show up if he was anywhere between Jackson and Marshall, Tx. I sure ain't driving to Dallas.

the guy is selling out venues all across the country

Dang. I would really like to see him, but I not that big a fan of Voo Doo (at least for the price) and would much prefer to see him at one of the many good, smaller venues around here.

could easily still play a night show in New Orleans on Friday that's tied in/associated with Voodoo at One Eyed Jacks or something like that there is of.

I meant in conjuction with Voodoo, ie a few years ago there was a Eagles of Death Metal show on the Friday of Voodoo where you could get in free in you had a festival bracelet or something like that.

yeah it just depends on the contract i'd imagine
