That's just north of the Galleria area. You are looking at a $30 can ride to Reliant.
As far as bars go...
You could hop on Memorial Drice close to the hotel and head East towards the Washington Avenue/Heights area or keep going up (East) Memorial towards the downtown and midtown attractions the OP posted. I agree with all his selections for those areas

Nice place! Not too far from the stadium or bars (10-20 min depending on traffic) but you are not going to be on a rail line.

You'll enjoy it, but it'll seem and feel a bit secluded when on property (i.e., doesn't even seem like you're near the Galleria while there).
