These challenges - such as this ice bucket "stuff" - are spreading like wildfire

This one ice bucket challenge has been popping up on my fb. One of the ones everyone should actually watch if they really care about what the challenge is trying to accomplish.

The ice bucket challenge is such a slap in the face to charity. You are openly advertising that you are choosing to dumb a bucket of ice water if your head than donate a single dollar to ALS. Sure, awareness is being somewhat raised. But 90% of the kids doing the challenge are not reading into ALS or donating money to ALS. They are just doing it to post of their social media site.
Even if it is only a $10 donation, it goes a lot longer way than dumping a bucket of ice on your head.

A friend of mine has seen one of the other couple hundred threads on TD bitching about the ice bucket challenge. That thread made him aware of what it was doing, so he did the challenge on FB and had 3 others do it. He also sent off $100, his daughter who is 12 did it and sent $25 of her own money. The 2nd lady sent 100 along with ice bucket and the 3rd guy sent 100 to Steve Gleason fund, and 100 to one of the other ALS charities. All of them had 3 other people do it.
The point is, I appreciate the OP for bringing more awareness to the ice bucket challenge as that will bring even more money to research of ALS. Again, OP, even though unintentional, thank you for bringing support to the ice bucket challenge.
ETA: Hopefully OP trips, knocks over a hornets nest, lands on an ant bed while breaking his legs.

So who's done the pussy lip challenge?

because having something go viral is the best way to get a bunch of people to contribute to something.
As of yesterday 31.5 million dollars had been raised since the start of the challenge. Last year during that same time frame, 1.9 million dollars had been donated.
By definition, having something go "viral" means many people are participating in it. 667,000 new donors have contributed in the last few weeks.
