let me just say that the 80s through the early 90s was the decade where we saw the most violent crime, abortions, teen pregnancies, and pretty much every other negative societal aspect

Unless you grew up in Compton or some other similar shitty ghetto, the 80s held none of that for you. For the vast majority of us, the 80s was an awesome time to be alive.

But your average person wasn't affected by that.
Crime and violence weren't issues for Joe America in the 'burbs. Compton, Baltimore, DC, Oakland, South Chicago, sure, but who cares? I'd take gang wars in the ghettos but a promising future for everyone else over the past ten years of not just stagnation but actual, factual slow declines in wages, disposable incomes, relative freedom, and quality of life.
