Possible new night game entrance.

During the night game entrance this upcoming season they need to turn off all the lights except for the scoreboards emitting the purple hue throughout. The place would be very eerie and give off an amazing intimidating vibe. I'm not big on changing tradition but I think it could be really cool.

The lights have to warm up dude. Can't just turn them off and on like lights at home.
ETA: Also that's not the best pic to display what you're suggesting we do...

You do realize stadium lamps need significant time to warm up. That eerie entrance would turn into a 30 minute wait just to get the lights on.

I won't pretend that I know anything about lights on the scoreboard. Just throwing an idea out there.

They'd be better off unrolling long sheets of purple filter over the existing lights for already noted reasons.

They would have time for the lights to come back on during the national anthem and some pregame stuff

Yea lets plunge 100k drunk and rowdy people into darkness while we wait for the lights to warm back up, what's the worst that could happen?

LSU fans do not like things to change.
Hell they fought the civil war to keep status quo

They do it for Bayou Country Superfest and 55K drunks.

As I seem to recall USCeast does when coming out to 2001 theme which was pretty cool; lights came right back.
LSU will not do this.

I was wondering about that picture. Is it really just the scoreboards that light up the entire stadium that bright purple? I thought it was photoshopped or video-edited. Seems too bright to be just the scoreboards.

do you have any idea how long it takes those lights to turn on?

Not only would it take forever to get the lights back on, when was the last night game that actually started at night?

Or Alleva could leave well enough alone and go back to the old ways of tailgating and a great college football experience without all the piped in music.

True.

Dumb post of the day.
By the way I heard it takes a long time for the lights to come back on.

My initial reaction was that this would be stupid. But I just imagined the lights going out right before the team comes out and right at the moment the band finishes playing and gets in place for the entrance. Lights out and that purple glow encompassing the stadium. People would be going absolute apeshit. Unfortunately, there's only a few minutes until kickoff at that point so I don't think it would be possible.

I'm uncertain on what type of bulbs they use in the stadium. If what everyone is saying is correct and they need to warm up, you also have to let them cool down before refiring them. If they are too hot when you try to turn them back on, they won't fire.
