It's going to take more than that, even with their defense.

He'll get it in the 4th or 5th game.

Brees could easily catch Favre in 4 years.

That's 5,000 yards/year. He can do it, but nothing "easy" about it. He'll most likely need a fifth year.

to pass Brett Favre for most all-time. Manning(age38)has 491. Favre has 508. Drew Brees(35)has 363 and Tom Brady(37)has 359. Where do they finish?

Really the amount of seasons they each played looks like this if you take away injury seasons and seasons where the QB didn't play the majority of the games.

Farve - 19 (No 1991 season)
Manning - 15 (No 2011 season)
Brees - 12 (No 2001 Season)
Brady - 12 (No 2000 or 2008 season)

Here's a good question... What if you include playoff TDs, where do they finish?

Favre - 44
Manning - 37
Brady - 43
Brees - 24

If he maintains his current pace, Brees could easily catch Favre in 4 years. I don't expect him to keep this pace as he ages, so I don't know if he'll do it in 4, but I do think he can easily eclipse that.

This is just stupid. So you think he can average over 5k yards per season for the next 4 seasons "easily." Normal regression says no chance that happens. He could possibly pass Favre, but he will without a doubt need to play 4 full seasons and a chunk of a 5th to get there. Regardless of what he says about playing into his 40s that is not the norm. And definintely won't be "easy."

What is normal regression these days?

Unless he throws for 5k the next 4 seasons. Saying without a doubt is just as dumb as easily

Come on bro...grow a brain.

Manning better than Marino?

Are you insane?

Marino would have 100,000 in today's crap-arse, powder puff, pussy, touch football - arcade league game.

Manning would have been sacked relentlessly like the litttle bitch he is - back in the 80's.

He can't move and he can't scramble.

Only reason Marino survived is he has the quickest release and read in history.

Manning and his patentend "double-pump" and wait and pat the ball - shite...

Manning would have eaten dirt his entire career back in the 80's - what a bitch.

Same career as his Dad. Eating dirt.

He only gets away with it today because nobody can touch the QB.

It always amazes me...people who weren't alive in the 70's or 80's or 90's are so fricking stupid about the history of the league...and that it has radically changed.

It's not baseball. Rules, protection, etc...have radically changed the game.

Marino today would make Drew Brees look like Andrew Walter.

Manning is one of the biggest pussy QBs I've ever seen...Staubach, Stabler, Marino, Plunkett, real men...

Manning - fricking un-athletic, slow-footed pussy who falls to the ground and hides - the minute he gets pressure.

Montana, Staubach, Bradshaw...they stood up and threw with assassins in their face...they never cowered.

Manning has spent his entire career cowering...you can go on youtube and see a long 20 minute video of Manning falling to the ground and hiding like a wounded dog.

What a fricking bitch.

I think this is where they all finish:

Manning: 588
Brees: 509
Favre: 508
Brady: 444

Right you want him to do something that has been done less than 10x in history and you want him to do it 4 seasons in a row... all after turning 35.

Not reasonable. Without a doubt needs 4 seasons plus a 5th to get there.

Well he's done it the last 3 years and 4x in his career. This is arguably the most weapons he's ever had as a Saint.

nd you want him to do it 4 seasons in a row

No actually. I want him to average 5,000 yards. That means he could throw over 5000 for 2 years and under for 2 years

How old is Manning? How old is Favre? What leads you to believe he will have some drastic dropoff

He had the best QB Rating of his career on deep balls last season despite lacking vertical weapons.

Without a doubt needs 4 seasons plus a 5th to get there.

Is he capable of throwing for 5,400 yards this season? I think it will take him 5 years myself, but to make a definitive statement is stupid.
