In reference to the OP, most of the $ comes from the feds specifically to buy this military style shite, the feds sell it to them ridiculously cheap, or the feds just give it away. What police department wouldn't take free stuff?

Law enforcement should be required to have the cameras for their own protection, this sh!t storm in Ferguson may have been less volatile if the police had footage backing up the officers account of the altercation, not sure what law enforcement gets free from the feds but I think the dash cameras are reasonably priced, gotta get'm.
