You would be wrong too
So if my neighbor's tree has roots in my yard, they are his responsibility?
If I trip over one of those roots, is he liable?

Exactly... Having a bad relationship with a neighbor can make you life miserable and hectic... shite, he might even be a cool dude

It always baffles me when people come here for advice when the answer is always requires just a simple, respectful conversation between two people
I don't expect him to have a respectful conversation since he is disrespecting me and my fence or he is either oblivious to the situation.

Grab a vine and swing on over to his house for a chat

In all realness, I have an ex who's grandmother lived next door to John Gacy.
If vines are your only probelm with this guy, it not a bad situation.

Good point. Time for fire. Let it burn.

I have this same problem with my new neighbor who's renting the house next door to me except my neighbor is a single mother and she's kind of overweight and it seems like she doesn't give a damn about keeping the yard up. I'm sure by now she's gotten letters from the HOA. I have some overgrown vines growing over my fence in the backyard. I'm going to politely ask her to trim her shite and if she doesn't I'm going to spray weed killer on the portion that's on my side of the fence.

Buy 2-4D and just start dumping it on the vines over the fence. If they're waxy, mix it with dawn. Gasoline kills plants within a day also

State laws are weird in Georgia anything live is yours and your responsibility on your property only, bushes, limbs, trees, whatever.
Say a storm blows a live tree down it's responsibility starts and ends at the property line where it crossed.
If it was a dead tree or limb and it fell or blew down and crossed the property line the owner where it originated is responsible and if it hurts or kills someone even criminally.
