The Mexican league keeps their best players home and gets decent international guys b/c they can pay good money. Lots of its tied to their TV deals, which over the years have been crazy.

I know that. I don't think that MLS teams need to outspend them to do better in the CL

That's true, but the other reality is that most players in the the Mexican league aren't nearly good enough to play in the big leagues. Mexico has always been pretty isolated from the world of European soccer. Another reason is that they grow up dreaming of playing for Chivas or Club America, not Real Madrid.

That's not true. Their best players play in Europe. Guadardo, Marquez, dos santos, vela, chicharito, etc. The biggest differences are that they attract South American talent with higher wages, have a deeper pool, and lose fewer players to the lower leagues in Europe.
