If you are putting a slat trap in a pond you want to put it where the opening is facing down. Not straight down, but on an area where the bottom is sloped pretty hard. They won't go in it if it's laying flat on a flat bottom.

Thanks for the tip on placement. I was going to just throw it out parallel to the bank. Will try to get it where one of the openings is on slope facing bottom of lake......

Found some "original recipe" ivory soap with tallow. Will use that as bait when I set it out on Satueday.
