Our defense has two great players at CB. Safety is a big question mark. A couple of good players and a potential star but true freshman. Kwon is an above average LB. The rest have not produced enough to say definitively. Rasco is okay and Hunter has a high potential but it hasn't resulted in production. DT is pretty average. The depth at each line position is relying on a lot of talented youth.

Now, IF we get solid safety play and IF Welter has gotten stronger and better and IF Hunter reaches his potential and IF Rasco is finally healthy enough to show why he was such a coveted recruit and IF the OLBs are more effective in their third year in the system and IF some of the young pups at DT play above what can reasonably be expected from freshmen, then yes, this defense can be very good.

But that's a lot of ifs. I think we are going to be very susceptible to the power running game. We will know a lot more after we play one of the best power running teams in college football on August 30th.

I think our success comes down to the ability of our DTs to draw attention from the opposing guards. If they are disruptive enough to force the C/G doubles then our LBs are free to low to the ball and our DEs have more freedom to rush the QB.
