Yea, hundreds of people that are angry and dgaf all wanting to do you harm could be pretty stressful.
Agreed although in not sure that there are hundreds facing any given time all wanting to actually harm an officer. I think there are a lot of pissed people and a lot of people taking advantage of the situation and a smaller group of people actually wanting to injure cops, but we are both just guessing.
Back to my point - it's stressful. I'm hoping a cop doesn't do something stupid bc of the stress. I didn't ask them to back down, just not make it worse.

And if the police got killed would it have been his Darwin Award?

Here is the issue all of the cop defenders are missing. Had captin hero either drove off and ignored the statement, or simply pulled up and talked to the kid like a human being this could have ended up differently. I work with inner city black kids all day every day and the one thing I know is its all about how you, the white guy, approach them. Police need to learn to calm the frick down every once and a while and just talk to people. It isn't always about pulling a gun, detaining an individual, or showing your rear.
Had he just walked on the sidewalk it could've ended differently. The police are the authority, not this 18 year old.

No. This can't be where our country is right now. Kid wrong to make an issue out of being told what to do about something silly like that? YES! An officer letting such a stupid thing escalate to a killing? SUSPICIOUS.

Why can't people see how ignorant he was? Really you are going to make a stand over walking in the street. That is retarded!

Nothing is foolproof. But I would agree that many police currently escalate a situation by the way they respond rather than de-escalate.
100% agree, I just see nothing in this situation that justify's it escalating like it did. Its part of a cops duty to keep the peace, not billy bad arse an 18 yr old kid who is walking down the street.
Another problem, is these guys get paid dog crap wages, put up with crap, and aren't properly trained on how to deescalate a situation. Its high time they get paid better, and are trained better.

Agreed. But also: Why can't people see how ignorant he was? Really you are going to let a stand over walking in the street end up with a dead kid. That is retarded!
